Question by reliant: How much do I bet for the odds bet behind the pass line wager?
In the casino game of craps of course.
Answer by Vegas Matt
The amount allowed varies by casino. The least is single times, meaning you can only put up as much as your original pass line bet. The most I’ve ever seen is 100 times (at Casino Royale), so if you had $ 10 on the pass line, you could back it up with $ 1,000 in odds. The most common on the Las Vegas strip is 3x4x5x, which means you can place 3 times odds on the 4 and 10, 4 times odds on the 5 and 9, and 5 times on the 6 and 8. Off the strip, 10 and 20 times odds are the norm.
The “correct” amount is your call, but the more you bet, the more the overall house edge is lowered. The odds bet is an even money bet with the casino, so in the long run you should just about break even.
